Sing and Shout Yourself Into Victory

    Monday, January 24, 2005

We sing a song in our church entitled, “Shout unto God with a voice of Triumph”. I really like that song and the other day I found myself just singing it as I went through my day. The song is taken from Psalm 47. As I studied that scripture, I was astounded by the actual power and meaning in those verses. We are to clap our hands and shout to God with cries of joy. His promise then is to subdue nations and people under our feet. It is so simple. It is an awesome “equation” that our Father has given us. I shout = He acts. I shout = He acts. That is it. Of course we must believe. It takes faith. There is still an action we must take. It is so simple that many of us just miss it, and we miss it by “just” a shout. I shout = He acts. I shout = He acts!

For years, I've read the story of Joshua and the Israelites marching around Jericho, shouting as God instructed them, and the wall falling down. That story has come alive in a new dimension for me. It is a perfect example of Psalm 47.

Further study on this subject revealed a similar truth in Psalm 89:15. “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.” (KJV) God's countenance is His face, His gaze. People who joyfully praise and worship God get His full attention. When I sing and praise God, the light of his face covers me. I don't know what you are battling today. Perhaps you are wondering if anyone even cares that life is tough for you right now. Are you at the point of wondering if God even takes time to look at you in your situation? This scripture, Psalm 89:15, tells me that singing to God causes Him to look at you. Here it is again, simple and direct. I sing = He looks at me. I sing = He looks at me!

My friend, I do not know what you may be facing today, but God knows. Our Lord Jesus already did all that He could do for us on the Cross. Now, we have to take action ourselves in line with the Word of God. I know everything starts with faith, but faith isn't complete without a corresponding action. You cannot say, “I believe” and then not “do”. So try it today. Put your confession in song to God and then “just” shout. What have you got to lose but the battle? What have you got to win but THE BATTLE!
