Matthew 5:14 says, “Ye are the light of the world, A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (KJV) Jesus told the disciples that they were the light. So we do not just have “The Light” in us, we are the light to the lost world. We are the only way they can see Jesus, the Wonderful Light. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (KJV)
My son, Ethan, has a baseball cap with a lighthouse on it and the words “La Luz del Mundo”. La luz del mundo is Spanish for “the light of the world”. I sort of “confiscated” the cap a few weeks ago and have been wearing it. The other day I looked at the scripture in the Bible and I got a new revelation for me. “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Wow! First I saw that God calls me a city! I have never heard of a city with a population of one. I am not alone. There are other believers always around me. Then I read where it says that the city “cannot”, not “will not”, but cannot be hid. Do you know that it is impossible for me to deny my Christianity. People can see that I am a believer in Jesus by the way I live my life.
For more on how we are supposed to minister the Word of God to people you can go to the “Message Archives” on my website, www.risenwordministries.org and check the message from June 5, 2005. Let your spirit man be fed on that teaching.
Jesus said that we are the light! We, as believers, need to latch on to that statement and let it fire us up. There are so many hurting people out there today that actually cross our path, some on a daily basis, co-workers, neighbors, relatives, people at the local grocery store and gas station are just a few places. We need to “shine the light” on whatever has them bound. The Word is in you, Jesus is in you and He said that you are the light. Today I leave you with this thought. I know that if you go and witness to someone and they tell you about a problem they have and you just minister the Word to them you will see them get relief from their burden right before your eyes and you will be hooked on “shining the Light”. Do not fall into the trap of giving someone “advice”. Anyone can give advice. Give them the Living Word, The Light and it will affect their lives right before your eyes.
I trust this has helped you as it has helped me. When I teach you the Word I actually move forward in my walk with Jesus myself.
