So many times I’ve heard people say, “You need to count your blessings.” Some time back that led me to look at miracles (blessings) within miracles. There are miracles in the Word of God that we tend to overlook, but they are there nonetheless.
Let’s go to Daniel 6:23. There you find the story of Daniel thrown in the lions’ den. It says, “… the king … commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. … and no manner of hurt was found upon him, …” We all know that God miraculously shut the mouth of the lions so Daniel was spared, but let’s look closer. It says that Daniel was taken up out of the lion’s den. The king did not have nice cages such as we see at the local zoo. The lions were kept in pits (deep holes) in the earth. The miracle within the miracle is that Daniel wasn’t hurt when they threw him into the pit. Daniel could have answered the king and said, “I’m alive, but I broke both legs when I hit the ground.” He didn’t even sprain his little toe. Oh what a miracle! That is a miracle within a miracle!
Another example is in Genesis 22:13. There we find the story of Abraham taking Isaac to be sacrificed as God directed him. The Bible says, “And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” Wild animals do not allow themselves to be “taken” anywhere without a struggle. It was by a miracle from God that Abraham was able to “lead” that grown ram to replace Isaac on the altar. Isaac did not have to call the servants for help in subduing the ram. Abraham and Isaac received a miracle within a miracle.
Today, I can take inventory of the miracles God has done in my life and I immediately find miracles within my miracles. I’m not only saved, but also filled with the Holy Ghost. I am married to a beautiful, wonderful lady, who is also born again and full of the Holy Ghost! Oh, miracle of miracles. We are in agreement and not unequally yoked, which is a miracle within the blessing of marriage. We were told we could not have children, but today we have two wonderful children, both healthy and wise. These are all blessings within blessings, or miracles within miracles. I have had 2 heart attacks and 2 heart surgeries, but I am alive and serving as a walking testimony of the miracles of God. During the times I have been hospitalized, I have led many to Jesus, including visitors, nurses, hospital orderlies, and whoever else crossed my path. Miracles within miracles!! Read Psalm 136. It will humble you; bring you to your knees with love, worship, and honor for the Lord Jesus. I encourage you to count your blessings (miracles), and I believe you’ll find some that you have overlooked. Then rejoice for the goodness and mercy of God. They are forever, and they are new every morning. (Lam. 3:22-23) I just had to end this with a miracle within a miracle. Stay blessed!
