Do we as Christian believers really know the meaning of (or power of) our words when we say, “I plead the Blood over this situation,” or “I plead the Blood over my children” and other situations in our daily lives?
In the Book of Exodus Chapter 12 you will find the account of the Lord telling Moses and Aaron to instruct the people concerning the sacrifice of the lamb. Look at Exodus 12:5. Your lamb shall be without blemish… (KJV) Now look at Exodus 12:7. “And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” (KJV) The lamb was symbolic of the True Lamb, Jesus, the Son of God. So the blood of that animal was symbolic of the Blood of Jesus. Also, read 1Peter 1:18-19.
Now, Jesus has already come and presented Himself as the sacrifice. His Blood has been shed at Calvary and believe me it is still wet blood today. You may say, “How can you say it is wet blood today, Bro. Johnny?” In Isaiah 1:18 it says “...though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (KJV) Have you heard the expression, “The Blood of Jesus will wash away your sins?” The Blood of Jesus is still wet today. Dried up blood will not flow. Dried up blood is worthless, but Jesus’ Blood still flows from Calvary today. This Blood is precious. It was used to redeem (to buy back) humanity from the grip of Satan. Again, read 1Peter 1:18-19.
Are you getting some idea of the power of your words when you say, “Devil, you cannot win this battle because I plead the Blood over this situation in the Name of Jesus.’? Perhaps I can use a courtroom setting to better explain the power of “the plea”. In a court of law, a plea comes into discussion when the accused realizes there is too much evidence against him and there is no way for him to save himself. He can only trust his attorney to negotiate with the prosecutor and get him the best “deal” by entering into a “plea bargain”. The prosecutor knows that even though he has a lot of evidence, that evidence will not hold up in court. His sole purpose is to get a conviction and to punish someone for the crime that was committed. He figures minimum prison time is better than no time. So your attorney and the prosecutor enter into a “plea bargain” and then all three of you go before the judge and he pronounces sentence on you, but you already know what the punishment is because both your attorney and the prosecutor agreed to the punishment. Going to court is just a formality in a plea bargain case.
Well, Glory be to Jesus!! Guess what? Here on the earth Satan is your “prosecutor”. His sole purpose is to get you to lose every time in every situation, but here is where he loses. Jesus already died and paid the price for our sins because the Bible says “we have been bought with a price, that Precious Blood of the Lamb”. Again see 1Peter 1:18-19. The law says once a crime has been paid for there can be no further prosecution if the sentence has been completed. Jesus paid for the crime (our sins) and completed the sentence, physical death at Calvary and spiritual death (separated from God) when the sin of mankind was put on Him and the Father had to look away. Read Matthew 27:46. From the cross, His spirit (the spirit of a man) went into hell, defeated Satan and his demons and then arose, walked the earth again, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. This is the reason the devil cannot defeat you when you Plead the Blood of Jesus!! In a natural court of law you enter your plea and you will still do some time, you will pay for your crime, but thank Jesus for the court of Heaven. Jesus is your Advocate (your lawyer) and He has actually paid the full price and completed the sentence. That is what you are throwing in Satan’s face when you declare, “Devil you are defeated, and I plead the Blood of Jesus!!”
I trust this has helped you today. Remember, the Lord Jesus has “Paid in Full” for your crimes (sins). The evidence that Jesus paid the price is His Blood!!
