God-Our Deliverer

April 8, 2008

What a God we serve! Look at Psalm 34:19. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” (KJV) We tend to associate the word “affliction” with sickness and disease, but affliction can mean something else. Look at the same scripture in the NIV Translation. “A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Oh, it is so comforting to read that and to understand its full meaning. Grab hold of that today. It will sustain you until your answer comes. It does not matter whether your problem is disease in your physical body, torment of your mind, money problems, marriage problems, or other family problems. The list can go on and on, but the truth remains that “…the Lord delivers you out of them all.” Our God Jehovah, the Lord Jesus Christ, is faithful and He will never leave us nor forsake us. Psalm 71:3 says, “Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort; thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.” (KJV) No matter what comes, the God of Heaven and earth, your Daddy, has given an order for you to come out of that situation smelling like a rose. Proverbs 19:10 agrees with that scripture when it says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (KJV) That word “safe” means to be set aloft, which agrees with Psalm 27:5. “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” (KJV) Well, there you have it; in the mouth of two or three witnesses the Word is established. I have just given you three witnesses (scriptures) that agree that God will bring you safely out of any situation.

Look at Lamentations 3:22-24. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” (KJV) Wow, try that on someone the next time they casually ask, “What’s new?” Tell them, “God’s compassion (love) for you and His mercy for you is new today!” Of course, the next time they see you they may try to ignore you, but you have managed to feed them a little of God’s truth. They will be unable to deny it, and better still, they will be unable to forget it. God’s word is like a hook. Fishermen sometimes catch fish that have old hooks in their mouth. Why? Someone managed to hook them, but the fish struggled and got away, only to be reeled in later. Oh how many times have I witnessed to someone with a scripture and they will interrupt me and say, “Yes, I’ve heard that before.” Why? Someone before me spoke the Word to them and it “hooked” into their heart and they cannot deny it or forget it. Oh, thank Jesus for your salvation (heavenly) today, and thank Him for daily salvation in daily situations. He is Good to us all.
