The Power of His Presence

February 7, 2006

The Power of His Presence February 7, 2006 Today I want us to see what God can do through us when we are submitted to Him. I was led to do this study because I know that sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we are “forbidden” to speak out loud. I fear no man, but that does not mean that I do not obey laws, rules, and regulations. And that, my friend, is what has led me to study about “the Power of His presence”.
Luke 5:17 says, “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” (KJV) As Christians, we say that we are in Christ and Christ is in us, but do we really believe that? If we do then we have to believe that wherever we go the power of the Lord is present to heal people. I truly believe God has provided a way for people to be healed, delivered and set free from whatever is tormenting them as we go out to do His will on the earth. Do you think that God did not know that we would sometimes find ourselves in a situation where we cannot lay hands on the sick or pray out loud, and yet our heart has the compassion of the Lord to heal? I truly believe that people can be healed just by being in our presence because Christ (the Anointed One) is in me and I am in Him. Colossians 1:27 says “… which is Christ in you the hope of Glory.” (KJV) That word “glory” means power!

Another scripture that talks of His presence is 1 Chronicles 16:27 and it says “Glory and honor are in his presence: strength and gladness are in his place.” (KJV) We get respect from other people and we give all glory and honor to Jesus. Who gets the strength and gladness? We do, and we pass it on to others as we are in their presence. Back in the ‘90s I was on a job site and I found myself under physical attack from an individual. This individual about 20 years old kept telling me for weeks that he wanted to box with me. At the time I was already about 50 years old and I told him I did not want to fight, least of all with boys. I told him to behave. On this particular day he jumped off his forklift truck and started dancing around me and I knew he was serious. All of a sudden an individual who was operating a machine near by came over and hit him. Both guys, the one who hit and the one who got hit, were very surprised by the whole situation. I explained to them that God has people that can fight for me. Exodus 14:13 says “ …Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” (KJV) Two days later the forklift operator was found sleeping on the job and he was immediately fired. I saw him no more.

Look at Mark 6:51. “And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.” (KJV) What were they amazed about and what did they wonder? Jesus did not say one word to the wind. He just joined them in the boat and there was calm and peace. Is Christ in you, the Hope of Glory? Have you been born again? If the answer is yes, then His power is in you.

“How are things?” That is a very common greeting among friends. Whenever people ask me that question I answer with, “Great, and if things are not great they will get great once I get there.” I have been doing that for about 2 years and now I just answer with that statement automatically. Some people look at me puzzled, but it works for me. A few weeks ago I did a service at a very unique funeral. The deceased had been in state prison since 1990. He had been born again in prison. His Christian daughter made the arrangements and met with me. She told me her step-brothers and sisters were devout Jehovah witnesses, and they would attend the service and would have their own speaker. Many others in the family were Catholic. My first thought was, “How will I be able to minister to all these people when they are so far apart from each other in their walk through life?” Then I heard in my spirit, “Everything is great, and if it is not great it will get great when I get there.” And it was!

God’s power is in me and in you if you are born again. Remember there will be times when we are told we cannot speak. That does not mean God’s power is not in us, so let’s show up anyway. Let’s show up and watch “His Presence” go to work!
