The Gospel Is Confrontational

I am a soul winner. I love to witness about Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I ran from Jesus for 35 years, but at the age of 35 on 2 September 1984, at 9:20 on Sunday morning I got saved. Ever since that day I have been telling people about my Jesus. I did not get filled with the Holy Ghost in 1984. I am one of those people that would say, “Tongues is not for everybody, or tongues is not for today.” Then on 30 September 1988, my wife, Virdeen and I visited Abundant Life Christian Center for the first time and we both received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Look out!! I became a threat to the kingdom of darkness. Ever since I got saved I was dangerous, but I was not a real threat. There is a difference. I met a captain in the Houston Police Department who was a Chaplain to the prisoners at the Harris County Jail and he allowed me to go in and minister to the prisoners. I was visiting the jail every week and leading a bunch of guys in the prayer of salvation. Now, I did not know it, but I was like a soldier who did not have all his weapons and armor. I was leading people to Jesus, I was laying hands on the sick, but it was only God's mercy that kept me safe, both in the jail and out on the street witnessing to total strangers at any time of the day and night, what you call 24/7. So, I was dangerous but not a threat. Now, with the baptism of the Holy Ghost I became a threat to Satan and his kingdom. Now, I have the Holy Ghost and power!! That is a threat.

My desire today is to encourage you to be an active (vocal) witness. I know, you might say, “Well, I just mind my own business and my life is a witness in itself.” That is true, we have all heard the saying, and “The only Jesus the world sees is you.” I have to tell you, though; the very word “witness” implies that you say something with your mouth. When a person is called into a courtroom as a witness, that person takes an oath (promises) to tell the truth. Only after taking that oath is that person allowed onto the witness stand. Now, what that person says is going to help someone, but on the other hand, it is going to hurt someone else. In that courtroom there are two parties (people) who have disagreed on something and now the witness has come to support one of them. I said all that to say this. There is a kingdom of light and a kingdom of darkness. We are to be witnesses for the kingdom of light, the kingdom of God. We are to tell others of what Jesus has done in our lives. It may be that your friend, relative, or co-worker is unsaved and living a sinful life. It would hurt that person to realize (admit) that wrong lifestyle. The difference between you as a witness and a witness in a courtroom is that a witness in the courtroom sometimes has to talk about the bad things that have been committed. As a witness for the Lord, you should only talk about the good things He has done for you. That is called testifying. Oh yeah! Can I have a testimony?

Let me give you two scriptures that I trust will light a fire in your bones. I sincerely hope they will motivate you to witness. Witness to your relatives, your friends, your cop-workers, neighbors, strangers, to everyone. Look at Ephesians 2:6. “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus;” (KJV) That scripture lets you know that if you are a believer on the Name of Jesus, heaven is actually already yours, but you are still flesh and bone walking on the earth. Yet you are fully persuaded that someday you will be in heaven. Do you really believe that heaven is already yours even though you do not live there now? I think you honestly believe that scripture. Heaven is your home; you are just passing through this earthly realm on your way to Heaven. Now, answer me this question. Where is home to your unsaved friends and every stranger who has not received Jesus as Savior? Let me show you. Go to Jude v22-23. “And of some have compassion, making a difference; and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” (KJV) Did you just read that and actually see the word “fire” in that scripture. The unsaved ones are, right now as we speak, citizens of a place called hell. Jude says they are in the fire, not going to be, but they are now in the fire. Hey!! Let's yank them out. You cannot yank them out once they physically go there. And they will be there, physically in hell, once their life ends here, unless of course we pull them from the fire today. Now, let's step out in confidence and with the Name of Jesus on our lips. Praise Him forevermore. Go out and be a witness. You do not need to tell a person they are doing wrong. They already know they are wrong. You telling them they are wrong will only hurt more and offend them. Just testify about what Jesus has done for you. Speak of His love. I heard a song when I was lost and undone. I believe the name of the song was “Simply Irresistible”. Let me tell you, my Jesus is truly the one who is Simply Irresistible! Stay blessed!
